If you are non resident for tax purposes (as I am) you can claim back any tax paid on pensions. My main pot is in Guernsey (no tax), but another pension is paid from UK to my Turkish bank. That pension is tax free after I sent them a letter from tax man saying I am non res. Perhaps the rules have changed since I set this up?
I remember having to jump through a few hoops for the tax man to convince them I qualified. Mainly, it was time (5 years) and severing links to UK - property and bank accounts.
Thanks Ian, I have been trying to sort for some time and have even employed a tax specialist to assist, but according to the tax office there are different arrangements for those who have 'Gov't' pension and there is no facility to either avoid paying or to claim it back etc....
