If you do not have a legal, valid government work permit to work in Turkey, AND a legal, valid residence permit, be VERY CAREFUL. One shop in Kalkan was closed down last week because it was found that the British co-owner's work permit was not yet renewed. She was apparently deported and large fines were levied against the Turkish partner who started the shop.

The Jandarm have been charged with investigating every foreigner working in Kalkan, and have been going around doing just that.
