We lost 357,000 in WW2

About the same as Romania

Poland lost 600,000

France 201,000

Yugoslavia 304,000

Funny that. It seems the whole of Europe spilled blood in WW2 and they were rewarded with a united Europe and 70 years of peace

Interestingly Germany left the League of Nations (A kind of EU on steroids set up after WW1 to avoid another war) prior to instigating WW2

Firstly; I don't believe "The UK seem to be quick to claim they single-handedly fought off Hitler.".... Undoubtedly the UK played a pivotal role which also financially encumbered UK tax payers with humongous debts which were only fairly recently paid off. As a UK Taxpayer I believe they did the right thing & as much as our detractors rail against us, I believe it was the Moral thing to do for everybody. But, the UK should Not have waived payments owed to her by Germany!

Strange that you only mention 3 countries: Poland's situation was the reason UK declared WW11. - Yugoslavia, no longer exists.... France...…. Chap in charge there was eventually tried & found guilty of Treason.... Every Country in Europe Paid a Price, in Money, Blood & Heartache for WW11. Lest We Forget!

Oh Dear,Chasey that's the trouble with extrapolating figures out of their context, it invariably gives a totally slanted picture...….

"It seems the whole of Europe spilled blood in WW2 and they were rewarded with a united Europe and 70 years of peace."

Peace you say! What planet have you been living on?

The above link doesn't cover financial machinations politically designed to exert influence & power over many European countries, especially since the end of WW11.....

Germany wasn't the only country to leave The League of Nations!

PS: To be fair to France, their only saving grace was The Resistance Movement; rather akin to todays' Yellow Vests....
