Andy: yes I've picked up a few Turkish words and phrases already and used them quite a bit whilst over there (which always got a nice reaction when I did!). I've downloaded a very basic package called Before You Know It which helped with simple words and phrases. I'm also planning on taking Turkish lessons in October at a language school in London.
