Don't be too put off Ian, anything is possible and obviously goods are imported into Turkey, they don't produce everything - like marmite! Starting any new business means a 60 hour week, plenty of set-backs and nerves of steel. But the satisfaction of success is worth it all, just get all the LEGAL advice and paperwork in place before you go shopping for that precious commodity that Turkey hasn't yet got.
