Re: Cesme...Alacati...

I went there a few years ago on a house hunting mission with Place in the Sun magazine. I liked it and Alacati would have been a brilliant place for my windsurfing maniac of a husband. However at that time the houses were very much more expensive than where I eventually bought and I found the lack of mountains and the rather bleak landscape not really to my taste. Of course that bleak windswept area would have been just up husbands street. I liked the village of Alacati and there were some great antique shops. I hadn't realised though that the village itself was some way from the beach and that buying a house near a beach was difficult, well there weren't any at the windsurfing beach. Cesme was a nice place and we enjoyed the market and some good restaurants. I would have liked to see the castle but there wasn't time what with having to have about a squillion photos taken looking at houses!! We're planning another trip there one day, this time with husband in tow so that at least he can get a couple of blasts on a windsurfer.
So in answer to what do you do there - windsurfing is a must, it's one of the best places in the world for it.
