I went to izmir for the weekend with my husband and daughter, the only way to get my 15 yr old daughter to come with us was to bribe her with shopping. And what a shopping extravaganza we had.
We started off in Kemeralti, first we sat and had a tea, just to get prepare for the onslaught of vendors hawking their wares in your face. Then we left the tea shop, and had to buy an umbella, great buy at 2 lira. Nex we stopped in to Karamursel department store and I bought some Lancome make up.......then we bought a Besiktas scarf for michelle. As they say in Turkish, this shop was mine, that shop was hers......we managed in 4 hours to spend quite a bit of money. I bought 6 sweaters, 2 CDs, 6 scarves, my daughter bought 3 pairs of shoes, 2 jeans, 4 sweaters........ our hands were full, so we took a cab to the inlaws, dropped off our bags and carried on to the Agora. The agora is a huge mall, with all brand name stores, quite pricey.....but we did manage to spend some ungodly amount of money....and ended our escursion with a cappucino.
We really had a great time, the prices in kemeralti were fantastic, we will have to make an effort to come back just for shopping.
anyone been to kemeralti recently???? pretty cool huh?
