Hmmm... used to be a general rule of thumb but pretty much ignored nowadays as people get more adventurous with their choices of wine (and food!)
Some of the more full bodied white wines can easily be served with red meat, similarly a light red wine can quite happily accompany fish or white meat dishes. It's all down to balancing the right wine with the dish and forgetting convention...
And Lorraine, rose can be drank, like any other wine, anytime!
