Portable/Freestanding Air Conditioners

Hi, do any forum members use portable air conditioners rather than wall mounted and if so any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks, Helen

Re: Portable/Freestanding Air Conditioners

Lots of for and against I reckon . You have to hang the outlet pipe out of a window & they can be noisy . Would not like to use one at night in a bedroom . I suppose they are cheaper to buy & no installation costs . Though I must admit I don't think you can beat the wall fitted ones for quiet operation .

Re: Portable/Freestanding Air Conditioners

I have one for the small bedroom in both Turkey and the UK. True you do need to bung the hose out the window , but they are very mobile and immensely powerful. The cooling effect is immediate and chilling , it can be directed wheresoever you choose. They are cheap.

Get one with a remote control and make sure it is an evaparator model so you do not need to drain it.

Do not confuse with a dehumidifier which does not cool.

Enjoy , Steve.

Re: Portable/Freestanding Air Conditioners

Did think about 1 for a bedroom ,but trouble is we are on ground floor and the windows only open big ,so could not sleep in peace with a large downstairs bedroom window open all night ,with the need for the outlet pipe [other than that its bashing a hole in the wall job .]

We have a portable AC machine. We rarely use it as it is very noisy.
