Akbuk Dolmus Service and car hire

We are currently planning out 2 week holiday in Akbuk sometime in September and will be using both car hire and the local dolmus.

We have a couple of questions, hope you guys can help us out.

Firstly, is Car hire available from Akbuk or do you have to arrange either at Bodrum airport or in Didim?

Secondly, a few questions about the dolmus service, both into Didim and the other direction into Akbuk centre.

where does the dolmus route start and finish?
How regular is the service?
What times are the first and last dolmus every day?
How much is the journey?
Am I right in thinking the dolmus stops at the supermarket opposite where the weekly market is held?
From Didim, can you take a dolmus to Soke?

Thanks in advance for any useful information.

Re: Akbuk Dolmus Service and car hire

Garry,

I have seen couple of signs in Akbuk for car hire but don't know the rates, I always hire car at Bodrum airport from propercar, they are reliable and offer good service, and give discount for home owners and extra discount for forum members, please mention this when booking.

If you want to hire a car in Didim, there is a new place right next to our office in Altinkum called RentPoint, they hire cars and scooters their rates are pretty good too, you can PM Mustafa, he should be able to get you a good rate from them.

Dolmus runs from Akbuk centre near the Friday market all the way to Altinkum beach and back again, the service seems pretty regular, I have been told every 20 mins, but can't be sure.

Don't know the rates, as I have only used the service about twice, I think at that time I paid under 3 TL.

The dolmus will stop virtually anywhere you want it to.

There is a service from Didm to Soke, and from Akbuk to Soke too, I think.

Have fun, wear a hat if you are hoping to wait around for a dolmus, as it's pretty hot these days, and even for short periods of time, it can be uncomfortable waiting in the sun.

As always, thanks Mustafa for the speedy and informative advice.

I don't suppose you have the phone numbers/web URL's for ProperCar and Rentpoint.

Regards

Garry

Propercar website http://www.propercar.com/
RentPoint don't have a website, but if you PM or email Mustafa on the forum he can check for you as they are next door to them.

Of course I meant thanks Mustaq ... I didn't think the turkish alphabet had a 'q' or isn't Mustaq a Turkish name. I'm just curious!

Mushtaq is not a Turkish name, I was born in Pakistan, have lived in England for most of my life, hoping to spend more of it in Turkey over the next few years

Garry

Important to remember what Mushtaq said about Proper Car - tell them you are Turkish property owner you get 20% off + small forum discount. I have just had a very good quote from them for last 2 weeks in Sept if your interested I can send you copy.

Mushtaq.

Like the new Avatar, more friendly looking than the B&W drawing.

Gary I have PM'd you (and they can't touch you for that these days, not like Muffin the Mule, that's a big no no).
