Bringing car to turkey?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone in the last year has brought a car from the uk to turkey, the only reason I am asking is incase anything has changed, as I noticed that you now need a residency permit for buying mopeds in turkey? I know a few years ago you only could bring in for 6 months and then had to take back out, is this still the same and is it still the same on your passport or do you have to obtain a 6 month residency now? Any help appreciated

Re: Bringing car to turkey?

You can bring it in for 6 months and then you must take it out again for 6 months. You can then bring it back again for 6 months but then it's finished cannot come back. It's not worth it I wouldn't bother.

Re: Bringing car to turkey?

I've driven from the UK to Izmir and back again twice. There have been several threads on the trip. I think this is one of the best
driving route and costs to Turkey sept 2010

Re: Bringing car to turkey?

I think I read somewhere that over 65 yo retirees can import a car to Turkey for personal use,but taxes may make doing this restrictive.

Re: Bringing car to turkey?

If you are well off enough to even consider bringing a car over for 6 months, you might just as well buy a car here. Anybody thinking of bringing a car from the UK because they are retired must need their head read. Just buy a car here it will save a lot of aggravation and money. The Turkish government has the vehicle situation well and truly stitched up.
