Akbuk Petrol Station
Yes, since they have introduced cars into Akbuk a few weeks ago there are plans afoot to build a Petrol Station. the foundations have been laid next to Akguller Market (main one in town) and it looks a decent size.
I cant beleive the number of new developments going on at the moment in Akbuk there are ad signs everywhere, Sat down the other day with a few people who are in the estate business and we calculated over 1,500 new villas being built starting this year!! Maybe this is the end of sleepy Akbuk as we know it but hopefully hello to something better, lets hope it doesnt get ruined.
I promise to post my war and peace on the Journey over and also the great help and assistance received from Bryn not to mention the hangover the following day but that will have to wait for my ADSL to be installed and a heater to be put into the spare bedroom as its cold in the nights and I'm too busy enjoying the 22degree sun in the day Sorry had to get it in at some point!
Take care all
Marc

Re: Akbuk Petrol Station
Marc thanks for rubbing it in about the 22 degrees, I'm stuck in England until April and its perishing here.
So we actually now have cars in Akbuk!!! Wow we are really moving on aren't we, I was planning on upgrading to a bike with one of those carriers on for the water bottle.
Hope your journey was smooth.

Re: Akbuk Petrol Station
Hi there, we also noticed lots of changes in Akbuk when we were there in January, there is building work down at the the jetty area of the bay and buildings that were an empty shell in October last year are being rebuilt and revamped, they are really cracking on with it. I particularly liked the new blue signs which now tell you which housing complex's and kooperatives are and the paths. It's really changing quickly and my turkish friend who lives there also said that there are plans for a supermarket, maybe Migros or the other main chain, can't quite remember, but I don't know when or where this is being built. Sorry not much use am I?
I can't tell you how lovely it was to sit drinking coffee at 10.00 am just kicking back and watching the world go by in Akbuk. Oh and it was a very pleasant warm, bright day. One thing though, there is a lady who lives right near the jetty area on the bay and she has chickens and a goat I think, we noticed that she had tidied up her area considerably and it was now all packed around her house, I just hope that with all the new development she does'nt get squeezed or pushed out.
Akbuk is certainly changing rapidly and it appears that the powers that be are putting in some lovely touches but I really hope it doe'snt lose that 'specialness' of the area and become too commercialised or overdeveloped. Oh and our villa is coming along nicely too, tiles down, outside built and lights and water on, will post some photo's soon, cheers for now Mali.

Re: Akbuk Petrol Station
Just a quick update on commercial developments around Akbuk.
The Petrol station is more than a petrol station and will house other shops/offices roumors to be a bank moving into one of the offices. Petrol will be sold sometime in July!! the storage tanks were lowered in last week.
Akgullers - has had foundations laid behind the existing supermarket and will double the size of the market by the end of the year.
Just opposite Akgullers very large foundations have been laid again I have been told they are shops but no further info on them at the moment.
The Yasemin Gardens complex is moving ahead at a rate of knots, I havent seen any development on the mega complex the "Country club" yet last I heared they were bringing in some fancy new construction toys that were held up in customs.
I promise to go to the new fish restauraunt in the next few days and let you know what thats like, my mother is coming over with Philco (from the forum) and brother so that could be a good excuse to go out and have a bite to eat somewhere new.
Take care
Marc

Re: Akbuk Petrol Station
Its an AP Pet petrol station green white and a little blue i think, pumps have just been installed and I reckon 1 month and it should be open. The development is moving forward it is multiple units - office space maybe a bank but no one will confirm windows are in and interior being finished again maybe a month and we'll know what and who.
Take care
Marc

Re: Akbuk Petrol Station
I have only heared the rumour that a site has been put aside for any of the large supermarket chains to come to Akbuk with preferencial rates. I dont think anyone has commited as yet but no to worry as Akgullers is doubling the size of his store by the end of the season so that will be a little smaller than tansas.
