small boat hire

does anyone know if there is anyone in akbuk who hires out a small boat with a motor on, just for say a holiday period.
just that i keep looking for one when im over but thinking about it would be easier to hire.

Re: small boat hire

Neil Cartwright. Yes, it's far wiser to hire a boat when you are on holiday in Akbuk as I know one or two, people who have bought small boats with engines whose boats are constantly vandalised. One of them had the engine stolen. Another friend moved his boat elsewhere to a safer place. I'm sorry I don't know of any hire company but to make a purchase (and boats are not cheap) could lead to all sorts of stress and expense. Sorry to be negative !

Re: small boat hire

I think this would be a situation where one would need to ask around the harbour etc. Perhaps in the Liman Cafe as many local boat owners use the place.

Denis from the Mavi Deniz used to be a man in the know but he has moved on now. Another thought is the Balik Ekmek lady who sells sardines & bread from her boat in the harbour, she might be able to ask around. She doesn't speak much English but Sali (owner of Covent Garden) is fluent in both languages and is a good friend of the fish lady.

Maybe a request in Voices classified section as many ex-pats read that.
