Business ideas - Brain storming

I want to start a new business in Akbuk, small to keep me occupied and not get bored for my retirement... Not in construction and not in catering as there are plenty of those....!

My ideas are as follow:

1- Car Rental/Airport Transfers
Akbuk has already four shops that do just that but would a fifth one (English speaking) can add extra value to the British community and tourists?

What do you think it's a good business to do in Akbuk that would be of benefit to the British Expats, local community and tourists?

What a load of nonsense.

What's illegal about the original poster starting his own business? The area he's looking at may not be the most original, or ideal given the current economic climate, but he's got as much right as a native Turk to do it.

Impossible to get a work permit? You obviously know little about either working in Turkey or operating a business in Turkey. As long as you fulfil the criteria work permits are fairly straightforward to apply for and obtain. As long as the OP employs the requisite number of Turkish nationals, he is eligible to apply for a WP (to work in his own company) and it is unlikely to be refused.

If this advice was given to you in relation to doing transfers and car hire, then whoever gave it to hasn't got a clue about doing business in Turkey.

Re: Business ideas - Brain storming

John, i am fully aware of the requirements to set up a Turkish LTD company but the OP did not give the impression that that was what he wanted to do. He stated he wanted to possibly do car rental / transfers as he would be bored in his retirement. I apologise if i made too many assumptions but if he was to go alone - it would be impossible, as you say, he would have to employ Turkish nationals and set up a Turkish company with all the financial implications that are involved.

Re: Business ideas - Brain storming

No worries, if he had been planning a one man band doing transfers etc then yes, it would be illegal.

Re: Business ideas - Brain storming

I'm sorry I wasn't very clear in starting this discussion... I just put it forward to get ideas about the possibilities and see how feasible it's or not. Also, see if anyone can come with other ideas or advice...

I don't know your area, but always I think a good Nail Technician, eyebrow tattooing, general beauty salon would go well.

JohnF this subject comes up quite regularly on this forum and you always seem to be there waiting in the wings like the Venus fly trap ready to pounce. If your only aim is to ridicule people then carry on, we are getting used to it. If on the other hand you want to help people to find out what a simple procedure getting a work permit is, then lay out the facts and make yourself useful.
