Does Akbuk have a crèche

Hi does anyone living in Akbuk have small children we are going to spending this season in Akbuk and moving full time next year. I'm just wondering if there is a crèche as would like to send my boys as feel it will help them pick up the language and just to interact with other kids. Xx

Thanks Kev!!

There aren't any that I know of...

How old are your children? Akbuk school does have an Ana sinif (nursery) which is very good. Mine picked up a lot of Turkish when they attended.

The school bases the entrance on the year they are born (not from September like the UK.) My youngest, who was born at the end of December, is just nine and already in Year 4. Below is what your children SHOULD be allowed into in SEPTEMBER 2013, in Akbuk (I don't know about other places.)

Year of birth class
2001 Year 7
2002 Year 6
2003 Year 5
2004 Year 4
2005 Year 3
2006 Year 2
2007 Year 1
2008 ana sinif

This is if your children start young, quite often over here, they will keep your children behind a year or two if they are older starting school and their Turkish is poor...

Hope this helps.

Lynda

Re: Does Akbuk have a crèche

Hi Lynda my boys are 4 , 2, 1 so seems they won't be able to go any time soon but going by your little chart my 4 year old would be to go next year in Ana sinif is that right.

Kev you made me laugh that has been a worry of mine people being a lot older than me.

That is a shame.

I know, due to it being a good school, it is getting fuller. This September they split the children into two schools (the new one for years 5 and above) and have more teachers, which has helped the problem.

They used to have strict rules about living in Akbuk to attend the school (one lady rented a house in Akbuk so she had the address to get her children in.) But knowing Akbuk, there is NOT that amount of children living here (and we see them being bused in my the 'crazy' bus) so people get around the problem somehow...

They still have the rules for living in akbuk lynda as we need to 'get around them' if we are to send kyan there, which i want to.. İ was thinking he would be going intı year. 1 but from your chart it would be ana sinif? Hes born 9th jan 2008 so just misses the first yeAr... Will have to go and ask x

Re: Does Akbuk have a crèche

Hi Beth

The school might have changed the rules over the years? As he was born in January, they might be more willing to adapt....

I know you pay for the ana sinif (I can not remember how much, but it wasn't too much.) You also have to donate paper, soap, toilet paper, paints etc. They also expect the parents to go in once a month and feed the whole class (this helped with my Turkish and with Turkish cooking!!lol) This is because the school chooses to have a nursery, so they have to support it themselves.

I liked the ana sinif, as it was a way for mine to learn Turkish in a less formal atmosphere. Obviously, your son as the advantage of knowing Turkish , so going straight into Year 1 wouldn't be a problem for him.

Re: Does Akbuk have a crèche

If he does go into Year 1, he might be fortunate enough to have my youngest's present teacher. Although, from our experience, you will meet plenty of parents requesting for their child to go into his class! lol

She has had him for the last five years, and he is really good, as results of SBSs can testify. She will be sad to say goodbye to him in June...

Good luck

Lynda
