Council Tax in Turkey

Hi Everyone

I just want to ask if anyone can tell me if it's possible to skip paying the council tax in Turkey for 1 year and pay twice the amount next year?

I'm asking because I have a villa in Akbuk, but I want to go to Spain this year instead, but I feel compelled to go to Turkey to pay this year's council tax. Is there a very big penalty for missing a year? Is it anything drastic? Please help if you can. Thank you very much.

Yes you can, they just add a few Tl onto the bill next year....not a big deal don't worry.

Re: Council Tax

So many people here moan and complain about the area, the rubbish, things that aren't done........and there is a lot that needs doing. Council tax in our area at least is minimal....not a lot of money coming in for all the work that it funds.........and many people freely admit to not paying it at all.

I think if you have a property here you pay the bills it incurs, including council tax. Would you expect to not pay your council tax in the UK because you fancied going somewhere else?

We have an apartment in Bodrum and can pay our tax on line. Perhaps they have this facility in your council?

I think from what the OP is saying Judi he isn't trying to avoid paying his council tax.

He is trying to find out the consequences of making late payment if he isn't physically here to do it this year.

Re: Council Tax

Well, the OP asks about 'skipping paying council tax for one year' so my interpretation was that he didnt intend to pay it for that year Carolyn
