Akbuk v Altinkum

I have heard and read that Akbuk is the Cornwall to Altinkum Blackpool. What do you say about both areas please. Is it because Altinkum is so cheap to buy in, and why is that?

Re: Akbuk v Altinkum

I have no idea where you read that

I wish people would stop dissing Altinkum and comparing it to Blackpool

How come none of the other coastal resorts are compared to Blackpool, or Morcambe?

Jesus , if some of the other resorts were insulted as much as Altinkum bloodywell is, there would be a fecking outraged thread about it

FFS give it a break

Re: Akbuk v Altinkum

Soz, im looking to buy and wanting to know why Altinkum has got a bad name and why its so cheap to buy in. For what i can get a house there for, i would be lucky to get a small apartment in other areas. Im seeking somewhere to live and wondered why it has such a bad name. Is it really just a tourist place, and is Akbuk a much nicer place to live. I have been to many places in Turkey , but not these.

Re: Akbuk v Altinkum

You really need to visit these places both are suitable for year round living.
Didim is the bigger (Altinkum) and is really not that bad the bad press comes from a few dodgy estate agents
Great time to buy there and didim will only get better and better

Re: Akbuk v Altinkum

Akbuk is a lovely quiet village.(20 minute drive from Altinkum). Altinkum has the night-life and other attractions. It all depends on what you are looking for.

Re: Akbuk v Altinkum

Hi lickmyfeet,

As you say you have been visiting Turkey for 20 years, you have probably formed an opinion of the exact areas you like, so it may be best to stick to those areas.

You mentioned elsewhere Istanbul or Bodrum or both? I'd say both!
Enjoy!

Re: Akbuk v Altinkum

Well im not interested in night life, but would be nice if some bars and cafes are open all year round. Akbuk sounds nice, but is there life after October? Thanks Bill and Andy for your replies.

Re: Akbuk v Altinkum

We live in Akbuk and prefer it as it is a lot quieter than Altinkum, although we do love to pop to Didim and Altinkum once once or twice a week. We like the tranquil feel to the place, and winter does get quiet, but there are still places open. If you like walking, there is a walking group during winter, and there is a nice mix of nationalities, that go on the walks, also there are quizzes twice a week, and dancing lessons once a week, it is a great way to meet new people. You can usually find something to do if you want to, and house prices in Akbuk are pretty reasonable, although we only rent, which isn't much compared to other places. You are probably better visiting both places, as you can't get a proper feel for a place unless you go. We actually crossed Akbuk off our hit list after seeing pictures of it as it looked like a ghost town, and someone took us there and it was the only place we got that this is the place we want to be feeling. Good luck in your search. Sue xx
