Ramada hotel Akbuk

Guess big changes are on the way. I had an email from First Choice, and they are advertising a new hotel in Akbuk. Initially I thought it was the new one next to the Derby hotel, but the hotel advertises a shuttle bus to the beach, so wondering where abouts it is. I did read it will be completed in summer 2014, so maybe it hasn't been started yet xx

Re: Ramada hotel Akbuk

Is this not the Harmony Bay Resort and Spa being built by the Akbuk Resort Group? It as appears that it is being rebranded as Ramada Resort Akbuk, with a completion date of Summer 2014? The marketing literature I saw about a year ago seemed to suggest it was by the sea, but when I asked them where it was they said it was up the hill. Does any of this mean anything to one of the 'locals'?

Only 2 weeks before Mrs Rabbitman comes out for some hard earned r&r......lucky devil

Regards

Stuart

Re: Ramada hotel Akbuk

The info regarding the hotel in first choices brochure offers a shuttle bus to the beach so I get the impression its may be a bit of a trek to the beach. I was told today it is near the new mosque. Sue xx

Perfect.

So they'll get an early wake up call then?

At least they'll be able to get the towels on the sunbeds nice and early...

Every cloud, heh?

Re: Ramada hotel Akbuk

If this is the correct one then it is high up the mountain side and would suggest not walkable.

Going by the view across the water of the Caprice hotel the other pic is a rough guess of location, others may know better.

Maybe the right location, it does tend to look quite high up, don't think many people would want that hike. Sue xx

Re: Ramada hotel Akbuk

Good morning Sue, Yes, the hotel is almost opposite the large new mosque and more or less next to the large Muslim Hotel (they will not let you in there!!) The new hotel is about half finished and it is huge. They would need a shuttle bus as it's a long up hill hike from the beach. I have heard that it is to be a time share affair, but that's only hear say. I expect it will be an all inclusive with all the facilites and a large pool, but that's only me guessing. Time will tell lol !

Re: Ramada hotel Akbuk

Harmony Bay Resort and Spa being built by the Akbuk Resort Group. This looks like the one in the First Choice brochure. It is partly built now and is in the region up the hill set back from the shops, restaurants and beach in village. It would be possible to walk to village & beach in about 15mins. There are quite a few complexes and villas in the area.
The Caprice Hotel is at the other end of the bay just as you are coming into Akbuk, nowhere near the centre of Akbuk.

Re: Ramada hotel Akbuk

Just looked on the web. It reads that you can buy an apartment there for about 14k plus which lasts for 20 years (an agreement with them) So it looks a bit like a time share, in a way. Sophos Hotels SA are running it. Will have every facility, or so it seems.
Hope this helps.

Re: Ramada hotel Akbuk

Thanks for the info. Wonder if we will recognise Akbuk in 10 years time. Hope it doesn't end up like all the other places that started out as small fishing villages, and expanded beyond all recognision, it will be a very sad day if our hills end up built on like Bodrum. Sue xx
