residency question

I understand that to gain residency you have, amongst other things, to show a bank statement showing that you have sufficient funds to cover the period of residency. Is this the case and if so how much do you need to have per year?

Does this have to be a Turkish Bank account or is a UK bank statement acceptable?

Am planning to apply in March.

Thanks

People all have different stories, I went with a Turkish person the 1st time I did it and did not show any living funds for Turkey and have since renewed another 5 years and was not asked....not doubt you will get loads of people posted with their experiences

Re: residency question

In Bodrum you have to show funds, but i suggest that when you get to Akbuk, you go to your local Foreigners Department at the Polis station & find out from them what is needed by them.

Re: residency question

the rules are changing after April Ged so if you are now in Turkey you should take an RP or as soon as you can before April
After April a first RP has to be applied for in your own country
also RPs from April onwards will only be given for 12 months at a time..

Re: residency question

My Police pension gets paid into my sterling account at Finansbank every month. I then change it to lira and put it in my daily account. All I have ever shown is my sterling account passbook, even though there may only be a couple of quid in it, but they can still see that there are regular monthly deposits in it.

Re: residency question

There has been a change in the rules for any one with children, in Didim anyway....

We went to get our children's ikamet a couple of months ago with the usual photos, photocopies of passports, letter from school etc. As they go to school full time, they have to have a new one every year, free of charge. Signed the forms and got them. No problems.

My youngest daughters passport ran out, so they would only give us the ikamet for two months. Sorted out the passport, went to renew it (again), but now have to supply a original birth certificate and copy, plus our tapu and the usual other photocopies!

Just seems crazy to me - we have held residencies for eight years (so they know us!), we already had to show birth certificates to get them into school and to get passport anyway!! Just feel that they 'like' all the photocopies!!! lol

Oh well, back again tomorrow....
