Importing household goods

Hi

I am planning on moving to Turkey at the end of May and was hoping someone could advise me on importing approximately 10 boxes of household goods.

My parents currently live in Turkey and I was wondering if I can ship the goods in their name and for them to collect them from Izmir using their Tapu and details? (so in effect the goods would be theirs)

With the impending new residency rules I don't want to be caught out without full residency once my goods arrive.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Re: Importing household goods

Why not seems an eminently sensible idea. presume you meant using their Residency permits.Any tax you are charged will be based on the value so being decond hand do not be overgenerous with your value of them. We imported a second hand settee worth "100.00" and got charged 10% ie 10.00., now if we had said that it was a mid victorian bergere settee we may have got charged more the value certainly was

Re: Importing household goods

Thanks Chinook

I was just wondering if there would be any restrictions on importing goods in their name as they have been resident for 6/7 years now, but if there
aren't then I think this is going to be my best course of action

Re: Importing household goods

There used to be a time limit of 6 months following grant of Residence Permit during which time you could import household goods. Has that been changed?

ADMIN: please delete. Post moved to a more general forum - thanks

To all members,

Further to the info requested above, 2014 is a long time ago in the life of TR Government regulations and I wondered if there was anyone who clould refresh or update the info, or give me a good www link?

My particular circumstances are:

My wife retired to Turkey in Oct 2013, obtained residency quite quickly, and lives full-time in our furnished holiday villa. However, we have just sold our UK property and want to move some items from UK to TR to help furnish our new, larger 'retirement' villa.

Another complication is that I am currently living and working in Saudi Arabia and want to move some of my items from here to TR when I retire at the end of July, but I don't have yet/won't have residency when the goods arrive in TR (Izmir).

Can anyone help with relevant info about importing household goods (2 lots!), one lot almost 2 yrs after residency was first obtained?

Best regards
Mark
