Alanya Mountains
We want to drive up to the mountains above Alanya - could someone give us directions - ie which route/turning from Alanya to take?
Thanks,
Mike.

Re: Alanya Mountains
The route towards the mountains!! (sorry couldn't resist that reply)
It depends really where you want to go to in the mountains. You can head up the coast from Alanya and take the road towards Payallar, Guzelbag and then to Gundogmus which is in the mountains.
You should be able to pick up a free map which shows where you need to head.

Re: Alanya Mountains
hi Mike on the by pass road..the one that runs behind Oba and goes past the new Kipa..if you drive past Kipa going towards alanya keep on that road at some point along that road you will come to lights and the road to the right..yayla yollu is the mountain road.
Thers a lot of building going on there at the moment but just keep going up and up and up....you will have some hair pin bends take your time. when you reach the top you will start to go down a little and evetually pass a long restaurant on the right made up of polythene sheets ..theres a tandoor overn there..and a couple of kilos of lamb with a big salad and some soft or hard drinks is great..further on there is a makeshift nomadic tent camels etc..if you keep on going you will arrive at a place called Mahmut Sedi..a lovely village with a very old mosque...better stop..i could go on all day
PS..just realised you will be coming from Side..then you still keep on the by pass road as you enter Alanya keep on the left all the way..and you will come to the lights..and up you go..enjoy

Re: Alanya Mountains
Views are amazing Mike, we spent a whole day just driving in the mountains and getting lost, but there is always a track that leads you to a main road.
We couldn't get enogh of it so went back and done it again the following day taking a different road.
Make sure you have plenty of space on your memory card and fully charged batteries.
Enjoy

Re: Alanya Mountains
The drive from Alanya to Anamur is really breath taking if you ever get the chance to head that way. Some of the bus companies ask if you want a sea view window seat if you make the journey by bus.
