Has anyone been to Alanya its really the only part of Turkey i know.

Not quite Alanya but I went to Antalya last March and we stayed in the old part of the town called Kaleici which was very picturesque. The scenery was lovely and we could see the snow capped mountains whilst sat having a beer in the sunshine! Antalya was great to visit as it was a busy Turkish town. We visited Side and the ancient sites at Perge and Aspendos as well as going to Manavgat waterfalls and another waterfall, the name of which escapes me! I noticed that there were mainly German, Dutch and Russian tourists in that area. I didnt get to Alanya but a friend of mine used to work there and said how nice it is.

Yes Alanya is really beautiful i have been to side aswell but my heart is in Alanya

Yes I spent 2 weeks in Alanya last December Kate, nice place. One of my friends owns an apartment there and apparently she has just informed me that all the apartments surrounding her when we where there have been bought up already arrrgh! I'm stuck in this damn house in the UK and can't make any moves at the moment at all anywhere.

Kate it is just one beautiful part of Turkey but there are many others so try them.

I've so far been to Antalya, Ankara, Kemer, Gazi Antep (not a resort)Side, Alanya, Istanbul and I intend adding many more places to the list. If you fancy travelling some time in the future let me know.

You must... like Kadin said this is a country of huge variety. the history, culture & scenery all deserve soem attention. One of my favourite places is Cappadocia and especially Haçibeþtas, love this old historic town. Plan to go around the Sivas area later the year..and maybe down to hatay - shopping unbelievable there sooooo cheap []
