A word of warning for everyone.
Jane and I have just returned from Alanya, after what has turned out to be a very eventful last day.
Whilst we slept, burglars boke into our apartment and stole Janes bag my wallet and various items of clothing. They woke me up when they got greedy and crept into our bedroom to steal my wallet.
I woke up and chased the buggers (what a sight I must have looked naked and still half asleep). They escaped with our belonging, this all happened at 4am.
The police were called and I must admit they were totally professional. Within a few hours they had finger printed and given us a copy of the statement for our insurance.
When it was light I had a look around the area to see if they dropped anything, and they did. They emptied my wallet(credit, bankcards etc) and stuffed them into Janes bag? They took Janes Mobile Phone but left her sim card.
An Irish couple a few blocks away had the same visit on about 20mins before us and they lost credit cards, cameras and alot more besides.
THey didnt get any cash from me because we were leaving that day, thankfully.
I asked the Police why they left all our credit cards etc, they believe it because my British Army ID card was in my wallet and there are certain people they wont rob.
Our Turkish caretaker was fantastic and we now have new locks fitted on our windows.
Moral of story is close you shutters if you have them fitted.
This will not put us off Alanya, this kind of thing happens all over the world and we wouldnt go anywhere if this kind of thing phases us.
So to end the story, the thieves dropped one of thier wallets(no money in it)
and in it was a picture of the thief, who was known to the police. They were in the process of picking them up as we set off for the airport.
Well done the Alanya Police.
One last thing they still took some clothes and Janes Phone, so if you see someone in Alanya wearing a green Tesco Fleece, blue Nike trainers and using a pink Motorola phone let me know.
Tip: Record the imei number on your mobile phone, it can be found on the phone body under the battery. With this number the Police can track your phone and have it switched off.
You can go on the net and pay to have your tphone tracked!
We will be back in the summer and I will be on the look out for my clothing!
