Re: What do you think About Hunting ?

I have been watching this thread with a lot of interest of late. First of all let me say that I am all in favour of hunting, providing that the animal that is being hunted is killed as speedily and as humanely as possible, and, on the condition that it will be consumed by the hunter, or, friends and other carnivors.
I am also a fisherman, who enjoys the pursuit of my sport, I also consume everything that I eat, as should anybody who kills anything.
People today forget where meat comes from, it is reared, killed and made ready for human consumption, hopefully in the most humane way possible.
I know there will be a lot of people who do disagree, and that is their right. However, as an armourer, with thirty years experience in the British Army I am well aware of weapons and the effects of gunshots, then I can assure any of the un ininformed that it is far better that a creature that has been shot expertly suffers far less than an animal that has been led " to the slaughter", I realise that a lot of members will disagree, however, as most, I hope will admit, this is more from a,"feeling" as against knowledge.
I am not courting controversey, just expressing my views.

Re: What do you think About Hunting ?

Hunting for food is fine. If you intend to eat the animal, then I don't see a problem, so long as you do it properly.

Hunting animals just to watch them get ripped apart for "fun" is barbaric and there is no justification at all for this.

I don't think the two should be grouped together. We are "made" to eat meat. Pigs, cattle, sheep etc are bred for food and if they weren't, they wouldn't be bred in the first place. But being a meat eater doesn't mean you approve of the likes of fox hunting, where people get thrills out of killing an animal just because they can.

Can we come too - would love to get hold of the **** who broke into our place. When it comes to the animals we would be more likley to feed them than be fed by them (lifelong veggies I'm afraid!)

Re: What do you think About Hunting ?

When we came here (also clay shooters) we were told that we couldn't bring our shotguns with us. Eventually we also had to give up our UK licences. I don't think you can get a shotgun licence in Turkey as yabanci.
