emergency phrases

After a couple of friends in the UK had recent health emergencies, I got to pondering on how well we'd be able to help ourselves/someone else if similar events had taken place whilst we were in Turkey - our language skills still being fairly limited.
I thought that it might be useful to have a couple of key phrases to hand, alongside our local emergency telephone numbers.
Trying to find the correct translation of para medical terms is, however, proving really difficult. I'm sure that WIT members will have established good contacts through their health check events, and wonder if someone could get reliable translations of phrases such as " Emergency - someone here is having a heart attack" or "Help - someone is having a stroke" ?
Since speed of intervention is the essence in these cases, I feel that it could be a useful precaution for many of us to have such phrases to hand - locating our favourite local helpers may not be quick enough in such situations.Can anyone please help?

Unfortunately I can't help, my Turkish is also too limited. However, I do think this is an excellent idea and hope some of our Turkish speakers will soon be along to help us out.

Kalp krizi - heart attack. But covers birth control, "where does it hurt" etc etc

Divorces, mortgages, old age and everything.

Not exactly handbag size but a great book giving lots of information and vocabulary for each section. I have had it a couple of years now so you might find cheaper copies cropping up in boot fairs or e-bay.

Learning your address perfectly would be the best thing to do, then say AMBULANS= ambulance.Very basic but these few words said over the phone might give the operator an idea of problem.

Doktor........doctor Doktor lazim.......I need doctor
Acil (ajil)servis.......emergency service
Acele(ajile).......urgently
Hastane(hastani) ........hospital
Kalp....heart Kalp problem.......heart problem Kalp krizi......heart attack
Kan....blood
Ambulans.......ambulance

Hopefully you wont need any of the above !

Thanks all for the info so far - anybody help with 'stroke'? My dictionery would have had me asking for 'emergency help, someone here is giving me an affectionate movement'...not something Im usually in need of help with! I hope I never need the info, but intend to keep it in my purse and taped onto the inside of one of the kitchen cupboards. If I'm prepared, hopefully sod's law will be counteracted...the book looks interesing, Teresa, so I'll be looking to add that to the 'light coffee time reading' list.At least I do know how to say my address, so can I have one brownie point?

However, if you only say "beyin kanamasi" and "acil ambulans" it will be enough for the operator to understand the situation.
