Re: Street dress code for women

yes, that is what I was thinking. as our apartment is up near Apollo temple and I will have to take the dolmus into town, the three-quarter trouser would be best.
As I said, I would not want to cause offence.

Sounds a good option Mary, I always wear 3/4 trousers rather than shorts anyway, think they are much smarter and there's a time and a place for swimwear, I also can't stand to see Men walking about the street bare chested.

Re: Street dress code for women

I think its wonderful to see that forum members have respect & standards unlike the many in Altinkum that walk about like they work in Cat Houses!!! They wonder why the local lads think they are up for grabs when they dress to go out as many would to go to bed!!! Im no prude but RESPECT remember Turkey is a Moslem country & act accordingly !!! Oh I know we all bend the rules at times but bending & destroying then are very different show respect then Perhaps we will get Respect back in return!

Re: Street dress code for women

Nothing wrong with knee length shorts or a nice cool loose sundress . I wear longish cool skirts and a sun top , ....I hate seeing women in swimwear walking along the streets or in the supermarkets, looks awfull, ....I have a long crinkle dress i wear over my swimsuit and take it off at the pool or beach and pop it on again even to ask the bar for a sprite ..I think its much better .......................Diane

Re: Street dress code for women

I think Philip would have been the one to ask this question of. He has after all been known to take his donkey for a walk round town wearing a dress !!!

Is that just a weekend thing Philip or do you have something to tell us all ? Personally I keep my woman gear hidden under my man clothes so no one notices. However, I do think they feel I am rather strange when I go into the sea fully clothed though.

Its the donkey bit that worries me, I wonder what worries the donkey !!!!!!

Re: Street dress code for women

On the subject of street dress code it would be nice if some brits tuned up at the airport dressed in suitable atire in stead of lookng like slobs.
Being casual is one thing but some people seam to go out of their way to degrade our british standards.

come on folks smarten up.
And Girls please act like ladies, it used to be the men who was classed as drunks and slobs but girls are becoming as bad if not worse.

Rant over with

Re: Street dress code for women

It doesn't seem as though anything is illegal in Didim.

Men and women walk about the streets/supermarkets in swimwear, some women sunbathe topless on the beach and I have seen numerous girls at the market in bikini top and shorts. These people do not care who they offend and even if people (Turks & Brits) stare at them and give them dirty looks, they are oblivious.

I have never seen anyone arrested here due to what they were wearing/not wearing - unfortunately!!!

Re: Street dress code for women

Valian,,,dont start me on topless,,, Yesilkent beach, I am horrified to see topless women there, they are not so ignorant to think it is ok in a Muslim country where some Turkish women go into the sea covered. Why do they have to get 'em out here when they can do it in Europe, where it's the norm.

I always wear my suit and tie to bed. You never know who you might meet there.
