No shoulder straps on mine though. I liked that white all in one costume with the high cut waist you wore last year on Mykonos.

Re: Street dress code for women

I thinnk most of us here utilize that gift of common sense when out and about in Turkey, but there is always that small percentage that feel it's their right to do what ever they want to when they want to and if others find it offensive, they should leave or not look in this case of dressing appropriately.

I like to use this rule of thumb.

We are walking advertisements. Beware of what is being advertised, because you can't control those answering the ad. Unless of course you are fully aware of the product your diplaying and zoning in on your target market.

Re: Street dress code for women

I think what you see in resorts like Altinkum/Didim is quite different to the rest of Turkey. As these seem to be holiday resorts attracted and frequented by mainly British some (not all) of whom have little sense on how to dress appropriately in a public place excluding the beach.

Think the locals are used to it now...I personally cover up and find wearing long flowing cotton/linen clothing far cooler than tight, short, skimpy clothes...Hey, but the locals enjoy the various sights and sites

Re: Street dress code for women

Agree with the fact one should dress appropriately in public places, no matter where you are in the world. It honestly disgusts me to see people flopping about in the supermarket, bank or furniture shop with just nipple coverage & a see through beach scarf. Regarding the beach, remember turkey is still somewhat conservative...if you are basically naked men will gawk at you, chat you up, and you can't blame them.
looks like a duck, sounds like a duck...so it must be a duck ;-)

Re: Street dress code for women

In summer I always wear a long/flowy/maxi skirt or dress when out and about in town. Keep my chest covered too. See a lot of "sights" here but this is what I feel comfortable in.
