Building and contents insurance

Hello

Would someone please be able to advise me. What is the best insurance company to go to for building, contents and earthquake insurance for a 2 bed apartment? For competitive price and the best cover.

Thanks.

Re: Building and contents insurance

I use Intasure, can't remember the premium, think it was around the 120+ mark.

Your price (premium) will depend on your 'excess'. You could get a really low quote but find your excess high at 250 for example, or you could have a low excess e.g. 50 and have a higher premium.

Your price will also depend on what value of contents cover you include, maybe the standard starts with 3000 worth of Contents then you up it per 1000 and so it goes up in chunks.

I haven't made a claim thankfully, but know others who use them who successfully made a water damage/flooding claim and they paid out in full, included getting a new kitchen. So it's worth knowing in the unfortunate event of a Claim that they have been known to pay up.

Intasur do not insure traditionally built properties without a concrete frame or people who live in Turkey. Don't forget that you will have DASK to take out.

Good points Chinook. Another point to remember; make sure the correct construction of your property is listed on both the insurance policy and the Dask.

We went for 4 years with the wrong construction on both. We were told if there was a building problem then both policies would have been worthless.

Re: Building and contents insurance

Hi,
I use Enver Yucel on Ataturk Bulvari. Last time my insurance was due for renewal I was home here in Ireland. I was able to arrange it all via email. I am insured with AXA. Type his name into the search box at the top right-hand side of the forum and you will find my post which includes his contact details.
Hope this helps and you can get it sorted.

Mary.

Re: Building and contents insurance

This may sound a bit daft and obvious but what is DASK?

Thanks

Re: Building and contents insurance

The Government earthquake insurance on your property which you are legally obliged to take out. Put it into the Search above and you will find many threads about it

Re: Building and contents insurance

All of my Turkish neighbours have it and so do I. Although I believe it only gives you a very basic cover, my buildings and contents insurance would not be valid without it. I don't believe it is worth being uninsured.
