Smile Exporting a turkish vehicle to the uk

Hi all, I want to take my Turkish car back to the UK and believe that I can re-register it there. Does anyone know if I have to notify the Turlish authorities before I go and if so, who? cheers, Dora.

Re: Exporting a turkish vehicle to the uk

I presume it is a left hooker , if so it will be expensive to insure in the UK. Your car would be worth much more in Turkey.

Re: Exporting a turkish vehicle to the uk

I think that you will have to get a CARNIE from Turing. There should be an office near to where you live.If you do not have one then you may have a lot of delays at Turkish customs when you leave

Re: Exporting a turkish vehicle to the uk

Given the high value of 2nd hand cars in Turkey, and the fact that they are LHD, I would have thought it made more sense to sell it here and buy a RHD car back in the UK

Re: Exporting a turkish vehicle to the uk

me too pete, the equivalent car in the UK could be 25-40% cheaper as a RHD

regards

You do have to hand over the number plates to the police here.

Re: Exporting a turkish vehicle to the uk

Denise.Turing are the equivalent of the AA but are owned and run by the Turkish Goverment.A Carnie is a page of Paper that they issue which allows your car to leave Turkey. Hope this helps to clarify.
