Re: drink prices

In Side an Efes beer is anything from 7 tl to 10 tl and a wine about 8 tl a glass. A gin and tonic is mostly 12 tl.

Re: drink prices

Cheap here in North Cyprus Glynn. 5 - 6tl for a beer unless you are drinking in the harbour or a posh place lol, then it may be 7tl. About 60tl for a crate of beer from the shop, and 5 litre's of wine from the supermarket 28tl, and as for local spirits 1 litre bottles 13-15 lira. Hope you are doing well over there in the UK. Sue xx

Liquor tax always higher in Turkey than TRNC because of an extreme Islamic ruler who would like to ban it altogether! Great wine vine types grown in Turkey but no export incentives.

Eating out is more expensive, and rent is more expensive, but the last bottle of gas we bought before the last price drop was 37tl and petrol is 2.99 per litre. Electric is 44 kurus per unit,we paid that in Turkey anyway on builder electric. Car insurance is a lot cheaper here. Probably swings and roundabouts to be honest. Sue xx

1. With eating out being more of a regular occurance more than just the occasional thing.

2. Rent being a regular payment.

3. Bottled gas possibly only really coming into it's own during the short winters. (Short compared to the UK)

It doesn't sound a very cheap place to live, 'obviously cost isn't everything' and probably a good job too or everyone would be moving there.

What, can't do without the grumbling, or you've drunk them dry?

If you only want to come back for a good grumble, then I would stay and have it there where it's a damn sight warmer.:argue:

Why not visit Wakefield?
Rhythm & Booze, Leeds Road, Outwood. A pack of 24 Efes (500ML) bottles for 20, which by my maths is 83p a bottle.
No visa required to enter God's own county, the locals speak excellent English (If you're from Yorkshire anyway), the food is bearable with fish and chips cooked in real dripping, none of that southern softie vegetable oil and as yet we haven't been taken over by IS.
Please remember though that we do have borders nearby with the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire only a few miles away and that dark place known as Lancashire to the West.

A mate tells me he pays 5tl in Turgutreis, not bad I suppose but I paid 52 tl last night for 4 pints of creamy northern ale, happy to pay that all day for decent beer.
