Yes but you have to be conscious of the maximum 120 days in the year absence from Turkey rule which whilst does not seem to have been invoked to date may well be at any time.

Re: Residence permit

If you hold a RP and spend more than 120 days in total over 12 months that RP will not be renewed but you may be able to apply for a new one.

I would suggest that unless you live in Turkey full time it is not worth the hassle and overall expense. But individual circumstances may may dictate otherwise.

Currently they are renewing RPs even though you have spent more than 120 days out but that could change particularly if the passport and RP renewal offices get their computers linked

Re: Residence permit

If you do exceed the 120 days, it's best to buy an evisa purely as a safeguard in case you have problems with your RP. No need to show evisa unless you have a problem. Call it insurance if you like.

Exclamation Re: Residence permit

People holding the old "blue book" RP's are reportedly being allowed into and out of the country with no problem.

Under the new rules, if you hold a RP card, the new one issued this year, you will probably be in violation of the 120 day rule. The ikamet people told us that passport control is getting up to speed and will look carefully at anyone holding a new RP. You may come and go as many times as you wish with the new RP but you may not be out of the country more than 120 days in any one year.

Cost for RP is 55 TL plus 25 USD for the first month and 5 USD each month thereafter for a maximum of one year. There may be translation and notary fees for various documents.

If you want a "tourism" RP, it differes from the other 1-year RP by not demanding you have a rental contract or own a house with tapu. You may have a good friend go with you to the ikamen office and sign a document stating the applicant(s) is/are staying with the friend.

You will need proof of $500.00 USD for each month you apply for (minimum 3 months) in a Turkish bank OR proof of a foreign government retirement pension awarded for life. (A company retirement pension is not sufficient.) If you are married, both of you have to apply.

Re: Residence permit

This is getting silly. It now appears that:

a)We can have a standard 1 yr RP with a 120 day restriction.
b)we also have a 1yr tourist RP with (apparently) no restriction. (Please someone confirm)
c)We can also apply for a 3/6/9 month RP on top of a 3month e-visa but there doesn't seem to be any public information about them.

I understand (having got a new 1yr RP in April) that the form allows you to ask for the LENGTH of RP when you apply, but can someone answer these questions please?

1. Does a TOURIST RP have any entry/exit restriction like a 120 day rule?

2. Can a TOURIST RP be applied for if you own/rent a property in Turkey? (Assuming pension/income requirements are satisfied)

3. If applying for a SHORTER than 12 month RP, is there any similar entry/exit restriction?

4. If I take a 6 month RP and let it lapse before returning the following year, could I RENEW it online from UK, or would I have to enter with an e-visa and submit a NEW 6 month application?

As we really want to spend about 6-7 months a year in Turkey, the best solution appears to be a 3 month e-visa followed by a short term RP to commence at the end of the e-visa.

ARE THERE ANY PITFALLS WITH THIS ARRANGEMENT?

120 day restriction is applicable

true, we were told to make application after at least one month in country on a 3-month tourist visa.

if lapsed, you must submit a new application

Your local ikamet bureau should be able to answer these questions. In antalya we do not "need" an appointment, but, you may have to wait a while to be seen. Your bureau may be different. Good luck
