Re: Why No Change !
Not just Altinkum Rafiki Some shops, hairdressers etc are the same in Tugurtreis, I find it quite quaint but I don't live there yet

Re: Why No Change !
I am self employed in the UK and supply goods to businesses requiring payment on receipt. More and more pay cash now from the till due to the high bank charges on cheques.
Quite a large number of them will ask me to "pop next door to change their £20 so they can pay me" and the lack of loose change is annoying on that score so when its general day to day purchases in Turkey that must be infuriating!
I may grab the £20 and run in future haha

Re: Why No Change !
Same in Datca they don't seem to start the day off with any change at all. We even got given some old lira as that was all they had. The amazing thing was that when we took it into the bank to change it, we received twice as much YTL in return. Very odd.

Re: Why No Change !
I think sometimes holidaymakers add to the problem. The times I've stood behind people in shops who have to pay for something small who break a large note, rather than count out change in an unfamiliar currency. The ATMs don't help either when they belch out 50 and 100 ytl notes.
It makes me laugh when they give you "something else" instead of small change in the smaller shops. We've had a couple of extra tomatoes or potatoes, chewing gum and most bizarre of all, a couple of sticking plasters.

See, quaint At least they don't scowl at you if you give them a 100 ytl note , you try giving a bus driver a £10 note here

Re: Why No Change !
Same thing happened to me yesterday. I was given a toffee the size of which wouldn`t have filled the hole in my tooth. I "sweetly" told the girl she could have it. Now if it had been a Black Jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
