Altinkum beach September 2017

After a few years of absence I visited altinkum today, the beach and area was generally busy but one thing is very noticeable this time majority of holiday makers were Turkish, I think about 90%

Bars and restaurants are not so busy, I think guys running these are suffering, is this the same in other areas?

Re: Altinkum beach September 2017

The front is generally busy at night, but it's Turks waking up and down, not using the restaurants

Re: Altinkum beach September 2017

Came back last week and for the previous 3 weeks it was busy with Turkish on the beaches and walking up and down the sea front only buying an ice cream or a sweet corn . A few years ago we would have to walk up and down the front to Waite for a front row seat in the restraunts not this time we could pick and chose .the bars down on second beach were empty most nights when walking past and that was the time whe they should be making the money to get them through the winter the only bars we found busy were out of town, regency lounge, caspers ,jack sparrows Mavis kitchen to name a few. I only hope it picks up now the kids have gone back to school and the flights and holiday prices have droped a lot and people grab a late bit of sunshine

Re: Altinkum beach September 2017

Just come back from Icemeler (near Marmaris) and to be honest it was rather quiet on a night time, the established bars were not too bad, but many more were nigh on empty, The Turks on holiday seem to be in greater numbers, and it was suggested that they were getting hotel prices at a rate of 40% cheaper than the brits, the hotel I stayed in used to be a British holiday makers paradise simply because it catered more for them than anyone else though rather expensive, now every meal time the menu`s are split 50-50 Turkish/british,
(that's not really a complaint just a fact as the hotel is brilliant) Aqua in Icemeler by the way.
The beaches during the day were 75% full, but the familiar complaint from taxi drivers, boat taxi owners, shopkeepers, barmen, "Turkish dont really spend".

Re: Altinkum beach September 2017

wow!
Datca was heaving over Bayram, and even before the holiday it was so busy that all the restaurants were full with people queuing to get a table on the beach by the water. We wanted to book a table for 6 at our favourite place over the weekend but had to wait until the Tuesday after Bayram.
Now it's delightfully peaceful again and we can even park a car in town.

Aaaaoooh, I love September!

Re: Altinkum beach September 2017

Was over in Kusadasi a couple of months ago and they were complaining about the lack of cruise ships which they said would be down from 360+ last year down to just 120+/- expected this year.

As for Altinkum. The main problem as I see it especially in Altinkum is
A: it's a main Turkish holiday resort, and they do not like spending money @so I'm told'

B: British tourists do not like the thought of 'possibly' bumping into anyone slaughtering a sheep in the street, And no matter if it's a 10 day holiday or a 3 day holiday, some people only have so much money at their disposal.
C: Greedy and unscrupulous restaurant owners are now beginning to realise that unhappy customers are letting them know by walking to other well known bars and restaurants.

And as we know bad news travels faster and further than good news and bad news is always harder to forget than good news.
