Altinkum to eşme

Im planning on traveling to eşme on March30/31st, does anyone know the best way to get there by bus? Also recommendations for a cheap hotel would be appreciated, I plan to stay overnight before getting the ferry to Chois. Thanks

I've done it by car & caught the ferry to Chios, I would imagine a coach/bus to Izmir & then one out to Cesme. Customs at both ports.
Nice little Island when I was last there, not sure what the situ is now because they have had an influx of refugees.
Some nice shops, hotels & restaurants there, plus ferries that take you to mainland Greece.

You need to get a bus to Izmir otogar and then change for the Cesme bus. Before you get on the Cesme bus you need to check with the man who is standing by it to make sure there are seats available. You don't need a ticket as you pay on the bus. Some one will come round once the bus gets underway for the money.

The bus is white with Cesme written down the side.

The catamaran leave at 9 am and takes about 20 mins. It's about a 10 to 15 minute to walk from the town to the port.

Yes, Datca to Izmir with Pammukale at 11:00, then small bus to Cesme. You'll be in Izmir around 5:00pm, not sure if that's in time to catch the last ferry to Chios? Otherwise, you'll need to go to Marmaris for an earlier bus, I think Pammukale have one every hour.

There's a real nice hotel just as you get into Cesme, very Europeanish, done a night there, not cheap but more than catered for our creature comforts.

When we done the first crossing the sea was rough & I mean rough, most ferries were cancelled but some old sea dog was up for going. We didn't know any of this till we got beyond the sea wall & out into open sea. The ferry only took two cars (tug boat), I should've smelt a rat when I saw the sailors lashing the cars to the deck. Turns out we were on the edge of a storm & ferries in & out of Chios were cancelled for the next couple of days.............its a full page on my CV now.

Hi Yildez, I will be going to Altinkum for a couple of days before my trip to Chois, so wanted to know best way from there, it looks like Izmir and then bus to eşme, thanks.

When you arrive in Altinkum dolmus station, ask if there's a local service to Cesme, you might be lucky!!!

Marguerite. Just had another thought - I'm sure there's a bus to Cesme from Aydin, rather than having to go to Izmir. Do you change buses there for Altinkum? If so, you could ask.

TBH I cant remember BUT it does sound familiar.
The wife had migraine & we were heading back for my daughters wedding & stuck on Chios............you can imagine the stick I was getting :-( We allowed a week for the drive back & lost two days straightaway.
I even said we could leave the car in Chios & get a flight from Izmir back to the UK but as said, couldn't get off the Island. I had a good mooch around the Island, nice place. Couple of years back when the refugee problem was headline news there was a feature shown on BBC which included Chios, all change from when we were there, tents & lean-to down some streets that I recognised.

What a nightmare. I lived in Cesme for 6 years until 3 months ago and now live in the Koycegiz area.

I used to go over to Chios regularly and saw it change after the refugees arrived. I don't think the locals or the refugees are having a very good life :(

Your the first I've known of expats living in Cesme, it looked a really nice & clean place. Is there an expat community there?

There is a resident expat community, but it's now a very small one.

I did enjoy my time there and met some lovely people, and the Turks are very friendly and welcoming. It was only after my dog died last year that I decided to move to somewhere where there would be a lot of places within easy range to visit.

TBH if we were to move back to Turkey (not that we are) Cesme would now suit us. What we haven't done we have seen type of thing. If you have a good Turkish community around you out there, then your more than 80% closer to getting your time out there perfect.
Rocking chair on the front porch would work for us & nipping over to Chios of course.
