The Emperor's Clothes

Talking to a Turkish friend last night, he's a staunch supporter of the CHP, yet despite this he has blind faith that there is nothing wrong with the current economic situation. I said, it's not my place to comment but I was really worried for him and the rest of Turkey of what seems to me, having studied History and politics at University level to be a didre situation. He replied, we shall see. I said, fair enough but can't you see what's happening? He seemed totally oblivious to what's going on around him and has blind faith that everything will be ok. In the long run it will but to me, there are too many lessons to be learned from recent history that I feel like shouting, wake up weve been here before. Anyway at the end of the night I went to pay my bill and it had gone up from this afternoon. I queried it and he seemed unsurprised by my reaction and said, ah well, lira exchange rate has gone up so I must adjust my prices! My chin nearly hit the floor, but there you go, what can one do? Problem Yok I thought to myself, I won't be here in a couple of days, poor old Turkey. It sounds all so familiar to me from not so long ago.

Mig your Turkish friends attitude is no worse than that of Brexiteers sleep walking into the abyss.

That would be the last he would see of me with that attitude to pricing.

Re: The Emperor's Clothes

Not sure reading the article as you were speaking about your friend at the beginning. Was it your Friend that had but the bill up from afternoon to evening?.If so typical of "friends" in Turkey

I used the term "friend" loosely, I lived there for eight years and soon learnt to trust no-one, least of all when it comes to money. It's his loss not mine.:

Re: The Emperor's Clothes

The only way he could have put the bill up is because he has all his prices in foreign currency ,If that's the case i would have not gone in ,in the first place .
