Very good idea! I'll email them to make sure it's ready. I've heard that paying my own SGK will be much more expensive than just getting private insurance for the sake of residency - does anyone know if there's any truth in that?

Re: Getting a residency permit in Didim

As foreigners we are charged (quite rightly in my opinion) the top of the sliding scale that is applied to Turks. Depending on your age it may or may not be good value compared to private. It is also the same cost if you have dependents. The cost is currently 487TL per month, but in our case, husband and wife around 60 years of age, is good value compared to private. If you are in your 30s and single it may not be.

Thanks. Ouch, that's a lot more than I expected considering I won't be working for at least a while.

Is this 487TL cost per retired couple or is it an individual charge per person for retiree yabancis?

Re: Getting a residency permit in Didim

The SGK rules state that once you reach UK state pension age you must have your own cover. Some people in different areas may tell you that they are still on their spouses cover despite being over pension age. However there have already been cases where the SGK has claimed back money it has spent on operations etc where the recipient should have had their own cover and did not. The SGK periodically goes through its files removing those over pension age from their wife/husband's policy and the first thing you know about it is when you are refused treatment.

Re: Getting a residency permit in Didim

Delal, just make sure you've completed & submitted an online Short term RP application within 10 days of your Work permit being cancelled.
If this is not going to be possible for whatever reason, you must leave Turkey [again within 10days of the WP cancellation] & return with a valid [e] visa.

Yes a very good bloke and apart pay the initial payment everything is very quick and painless, and with the Nufus office just around the corner well within walking distance plus with his daughter acting as translator it's usually all done and dusted within a couple of days of your first visit.

The other thing being with his daughter acting as translator then Sami's fee more than covers what you would normally pay.

And don't forget in Aydin (Didim) for a 1st application you can only get a RP for one year. Then for a 2 year on the next application however, Sami's charge is still the same as it's still just the same amount of work only the actual government actual application fees are doubled.

Mention Philip and who knows you might even get a reduced fee, or maybe a raised fee for being cheeky who knows.

By the way his name is Sami Isik. not Isk

Re: Getting a residency permit in Didim

Thanks for all the helpful replies. Martin, do you know if it’s ten working days or ten actual days? Apparently the permit is being cancelled as of today so trying to work out my options.
