Post Rate this Thread

I would like to explain the Rate Thread feature of this forum;

If you find a thread that is good (or bad) and want to express your opinion, please use the Rate Thread function, see the attached image.

This rating can be useful for new members to see what threads are good, I am also looking into having a list of top rated threads and I will need this information about the threads.

So please vote the threads as you read them.

Re: Rate this Thread

Mushtaq when you vote in threads does it reveal who and what they voted?

Re: Rate this Thread

The information is available to Admin and Moderators as a way of making sure that the rating system is not abused.

Kadin, the voting system does record the information, but it's not published.

Re: Rate this Thread

Sooooooooooooo this means when we rate something you nice Admin and Moderators can check to see if we are naughty or nice girls and boys by what we put.

I think it is a good idea and I don't mind if anyone sees how I rate something.

Have a nice day

Susan in hot humid Qatar.

Re: Rate this Thread

Susan from what you are saying about "seeing what you put in"

Are you talking about the "Reputation" system, or the "Rate Thread"?

The "rate thread" doesnt have any text input, its purely star based 1-5.

The "reputation" system for approving or disapproving a contribution to the forum does have a field for inputting text.

These are two completely different features of the forum and are not related.

The "rate thread" is from the perspective of the "whole thread"

whereas, the "Reputation" is for a single post in a topic/thread.

I will do an article explaining in full detail how the Reputation system works...

Merv!

Its a new addition to the forum Anna.

See the scales icon below this post? Click on it.... and you will see you have the option to approve or disapprove of the post that has been made.

You can and should always leave a comment in the box available so that the recipient can see why you chose to either praise or disapprove of their post.

I am going to write a proper article on how to use it, but in the meantime if you select "User Control Panel" from the options at the top of the forum, you will see a list of posts you have made where the Reputation has been used on your posts by other members of the forum.

In the control panel - a green icon indicates approval. a red icon means someone disaproves with your post and a grey icon means that although the person has voted one way or the other, because they are new members, their award does not count to your overall reputation.

All sounds rather compllicated, but I assure you its not. As I said, I will write a complete article on the reputation system.

Hope this helps and if it has you can award me a green point

Merv
