Home and Contents Insurance

Hi, Can anyone tell me where I can get reasonable cover for buildings and contents in the Side area and how much I would expect to pay for a three bedroomed semi including furniture. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can get an online quote by clicking here.

http://www.intasure.com/

They now insure property in Turkey and the policy is written in English so that you can see what you are covered for.It is underwritten by Norwich Union.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see any way (or mention of) insuring a home in Turkey on the web-site.

Hi,
You have to send them your details. Please be aware that you have to have a DASK policy inplace before they will insure you.
That is the government earthquake insurance available from most banks in Turkey. They will want to see your Tapu first and also require the size of the property AFAIK it is 1ytl per square meter.
Regards
Lorraine.

Re: Home and Contents Insurance

Does the amount you paid for your home (many people in Turkey have a lower price on their Tapu than they actually paid) effect the amount your home is Insured for?
If so then, I'd I'd thought, it won't insured for the TRUE value.
Is that correct?

I would be careful with this broker, I tried them a few weeks ago (merely out of curiousity) for a quote and found them to be about 45% more expensive than my local broker in Fethiye. In addition, their 24hr helpline is not available for Turkish properties.

Our policy with AIG Sigorta does everything theirs does, and more.

Hi JohnF,
Do you have a link to get a quote? Also is the policy document worded in English?
Thanks

Click on the box "Holiday home abroad" - "get a quote" and then in the area box click on Turkey

Do you mean a link to my broker and is my policy in English?

PM me and I'll provide contact details and yes, I got a translation of the policy document.

Re: Home and Contents Insurance

Hi, we have a property near Alanya and we found a local agent who works for a big company. We were unable to visit Turkey when our Policy was due last year and he said that it was not a problem so we paid him 2 weeks later. He has been fair with us so we will use him again this year. This time we are visiting before the Policy expires. We have two copies one in English and one in Turkish. If you would like his details p.m. me. Hope this helps.
