videomike New Member	Living Permission Has anyone heard of living permission and what does it mean. We would be grateful if anyone could tell us.

CrescentHomes Senior Member	RESIDENCE IN TURKEY (a) Residency Permits are obtained AFTER arrival in Turkey. Formal application must be made to the police authorities of the province in which you reside, or to the Aliens department of the Police in Ankara, if no fixed abode in Turkey is intended. HOWEVER, well BEFORE your departure from the UK, you should contact the Turkish Embassy in London for information on requirements for residency and for information about importation of your household goods or car. Please access the website www.turkey.org/consularservices/forms/. for further details. (b) A RESIDENCE PERMIT IS AN ABSOLUTE NECESSITY BEFORE YOU CAN CLEAR ANY PERSONAL GOODS/CAR FROM TURKISH CUSTOMS. THEREFORE AN APPLICATION FOR A RESIDENCE PERMIT MUST BE MADE in Turkey within one month from the date of your arrival to Turkey. (c) On first application, residence permits may be issued for a two-year period, thereafter for a maximum of five years at any one time. (d) Please note that recent changes in Turkish legislation relating to the calculation of residence permit fees for foreigners living in Turkey, has resulted in huge increases, based on 50 million TL for the first month and 30 million for each subsequent month. For example, a 2 year, permit currently costs 740.000.000 TL plus a booklet fee of 65.000.000 TL, and a five year permit 1.820.000.000 TL, roughly equivalent to £335 and £785 respectively. The Embassy has written to the Turkish authorities asking for a review, with a view to reducing these fees.

CrescentHomes Senior Member	On the finishing of new buildings a Living Permission has to be sought before the property rather than the land title can be transfered. As for the new buildings until the construction has come to a defined state there will only be one deed for the land and after the law easement on the land and the building you can have a right to get a seperate deed for the units. At the end when you are about to move into your apartment there would need to be an inspection on the property stating the position and the condition by the council office and they give you a Living licence for your unit with a charge of £300 to £1000 approximately depending the size, luxury, position etc of building. Actually builders pay this amount but in some cases you may be asked to pay. This permission is also essential for residential connection of electric and water utilities.

You dont need a residence permit to bring your car here. But wether you have one or not you can not keep it here for more then 6 months. Also you dont need residence to clear personal effects through customs

starman gone	The prices up there are still in last years currency. The prices I said were of last tuesday from the Istanbul emniyet muduru in Aksaray.

lorraine Non Active Member	Living permission This is copied from the Fethiye Times but also a good source of information for all other areas, yes Starman the prices have increased, found this in the Times also, http://www.fethiyetimes.com/ Dwelling Purchase Check the Deeds (Tapu) before buying a house to see if the deed is a house (EV) or a land deed (ARSA). If the Deed shows a house then the living permission has been obtained and the building has been constructed within the regulations. However, if the Deed shows ARSA permission will not have been obtained so the property will not be legal. Why? If you buy a property without the correct deed you take a big risk. You have been warned! By the way you cannot be connected to domestic mains water and electricity without the building permission either. It is wise to check that the land that surrounds a house is also included with the deed. A surveyor can check this for you.
