Do Not Buy
Please be aware when buying items in Turkey you are not covered in the same ways as you are in the UK!
On buying a 50 pack of cd-r discs from a place in Didim I returned home to find 21 out of 50 were unable to be wrote on..The first 29 were fine so when the first damaged one didnt burn on I tried another and a few more to see if it was only a couple that were damaged. Unfortunatley the rest of the pack, 21 were checked with a well known software package were proven to be covered with errors.
The discs were taken back to the shop as instructed on the packaging, and I explained to the shopkeeper that the discs were no good! He checked one that had been tried and said he could not refund as i had burned on the disc, i explained i had tried to burn but would not complete because of errors on the rest of the discs and asked him to check the others. He proceded to throw the discs out of the shop and shout he was too busy and verbally assaulted a very close friend of mine that had been with me at the time, this verbal assault was in front of my two young daughters which i find to be very insulting and offensive..
This shop will never be revisited by myself and should be avoided by anyone at all costs!!
Its micro electronics in Yenishar,Didim... next to Altinbas jewellers..

Re: Do Not Buy
It is different here compared to the UK where the consumer rules - my oil filled radiator from Koc Tas packed up after only 2 weeks and after a morning showering and getting dressed in an icy bathroom I wasn't in the mood for any arguments - I took it straight up to the customer services desk and said "kaput" - they took one look at my face and gave me another one!

Re: Do Not Buy
we have taken stuff back to koc tas and kipa for refund/exchange but they are big companies and generally have better customer service, have not tried taking stuff back to smaller shops but can imagine it is not easy?
no excuse for being horrible though!

Re: Do Not Buy
The discs were shrink wrapped and they were undone 29 were perfect but 21 were toatally useless which is more than exceptable, one or two faulty would have been ok but 21?
Its the quality of the product at fault but even worse the attitude of the shopkeeper that is not acceptable,we asked for the manufacturers email or phone number but were given abuse..We were more than polite the whole time and my 12 year old daughter explained the problem in turkish so he didint have an excuse that he was confused..Sorry would have been the least he could have given..

Re: Do Not Buy
So why did you not call the Zabita Police to help with your problem? It is what they are supposed to do, OK sometimes it may not work but the threat might have put the shop keeper on the wrong footing and he would have been more helpful.

Take a look at http://www.landoflights.net
On the right-hand side of the page click on Legal Corner 17
Go to the bottom of the page and click on pages 13 and 14. These both explain Consumer Rights regarding defective goods in Turkey.
Although the information regarding the offices that deal with these matters is about Fethiye, I'm sure that there must be similar offices covering the Didim region.

Re: Do Not Buy
Hi i happenned to be the person with Terri and Steve that was sworn at by this shop keeper.
At no time we we rude to him until he started raising his voice and shouting at us, I stood my ground and told him he was a very rude man and was bang out of order.
He literally pushed Steves little girl Amy out of the way when he threw the discs into the street.
There were several what I think to believe English people that were witness to this standing outside the shop.
I certainly dont expect to be verbally abused when Im out and about shopping, and I believe a visit from the constabulary might be in order.!!!!!!!
I see Steve has named and shamed this shop and I advise everybody to stay well away from this nasty piece of work.!!!!!!!!!
Hugs Maggie xxxx

Re: Do Not Buy
There is a consumer place which I think is near the gendarme army building. If you go to council office they will tell you exactly where to go. You have to have receipts and such like.
