My passport expires in February as does my 3 year residency. Does anyone know if its possible to renew both of these early as we plan to go to Thailand in Jan/Feb and you need 6 months left on your passport and I also want continuation of my residency. How long if at all can you renew your residency?

You cant renew your residence untill its about to finish and then you can only renew it up to the expiry date of your passport.

According to the police in Antalya.You have 15 days to re new it from date of expiry. They will not allow you to do it before the expiry date.As the previous poster states it will only be issued for the length of time left on your passport.It's not a big deal as you can always buy a tourist visa on your return.

The reason I ask is that,in Antalya, you are allowed to apply 15 days either side of the residency expiry date. The process only takes a few days.

Whereas residency applications in Muğla district are all sent to Muğla. İt takes 5 -6 weeks and you lose your passport for that time. Unless you travel to Muğla and carry out the application there then the procedure, I'm told, is done in a short space of time.

If you ask at the Pasaport Polis office in Fethiye Harbour, they'll take your application, check your passport, photo-copy it, and return it to you. Tell them that you're going to be travelling around while the application is processed and you'll need your passport for identity purposes when hiring a car etc. That way your application can be processed without you having to relinquish your passport for several weeks.

They'll probably do the same if you ask them at Kas.

You can renew your British passport early.If I remember correctly up to 9 or 10 months early and have this added to your new passport so that you get 10 years and 9/10 months on it.
