On your Bike!

Does anyone know whats involved in bringing back a childs bicycle from Turkey ?. Can it be put through at airport as oversized baggage?

We bought our daughter a lovely mountain bike in May, to leave in our place in Turgutreis. It was a fraction of what you would pay for a similar bike in Ireland, and would love to bring one home for her if possible? All advice greatfully accepted[8D]

Might affect your weight allowance. We bought a couple of bikes at Easter when we were over in Fethiye with all the shocks etc for a cost far less than the UK. Might be worth considering getting a new one in Turkey and keeping one at home.

Good question Kadin, yes, I'd like to know about bringing some mountain bikes on the airlines into Turkey and just leaving them there. Anybody done that before? We have a car bike carrier we can bring so hang 'em off the back of the car when we arrive but is it too much hassle thru the airport?

I read this on the small print of one of the airlines who charge £30 to transport a bike but it must be taken apart and packed so that nothing protrudes etc. When we bought our bikes at Migros they were in a box and I would imagine that is the sort of thing they mean.
