Navans New Home in Akbuk - What we need?
I have been online all morning looking for a good mozzie electric or battery operated machine but to no avail. I have tried camping shops too. The industrial ones are very expensive. Remember this is for Akbuk....where supposedly the mozzies are bigger than dragon flys!!!!! Anybody any idea where to get one?

Re: Damn Mosquito things???
Anna,
If this is the sort of machine you are talking about, you can buy them in most electrical shops in Altinkum or alternatively a tad cheaper in Metro. I have 2 of the 2 tube variety and they work a treat.
1 sits in Yakubs bedroom and the other provides us with untold entertainment on the balcony Instant BBQ.
Most shops appear to sell 2 sizes, the sorta size you get in a chip shop and the more reasonably sized version ideal for home use. Expect to pay around 80-100 lira.

Re: Damn Mosquito things???
Anna, if you are considering the type that emit an electronic noise to frighten them off - don't waste your cash, they don't work.
There is a smaller version of the type Merv is showing, for use in small areas such as tents. They sell for about £6.50 + post on Ebay. Type in 'Mosquito' on the search. They are, I think, based on a Ultra Violet lamp which attracts and then fries the insects.
(yes, I know it's a pig, but I can't find a mosquito!)

I tried everywhere but never thought of Maplins! I was on an American website and they had contraptions for $750. It was a huge jaloppy of a thing.

Just make sure the model you buy has a removeable tray at the bottom.
Ideal topping on beefburgers for those annoying guests you might have at parties

Re: Damn Mosquito things???
The one I bought from Maplin was a smaller version to the one Merlin has shown above, I can't find it on their website, maybe the stores might have them on clearance?

Re: Damn Mosquito things???
We have a Maplin store here in Dublin and I didn't know it so I went online and bought that translator thing ages ago. They sent me money off coupons the other day and I sent them to the trash!
I'm not looking for a little one, Lee's one sounds exactly what I'm after. As for the toppings ........I'm not going to your house Lee for dinner!!!
Ian......I want to fry the buggers! I want a huge strobe light on my terrace and it has to be portable in case we want to use the other terraces....none of that sound emitting lark for me!!!!!

I can see you are not one for the subtle, humane approach, in which case I can recommend another product that should appeal to you. I bought two electric insect swatters; they look like small tennis racquets, but instead of strings, they have a wire mesh connected to a battery in the handle. When you press the button on the handle, the mesh has an electric current running through it and as you hit the mosquito it explodes into sparks: revenge is sweet!
