Turkish Company

Hi all

Please, can anyone tell me the pros and cons of setting up a Turkish company when buying property?

Is setting up a company a potential way of getting your Tapu through quickly whilst the government gets ready to enact the new property laws?

Thanks for any advice.

Karyn

PS Spent most of the night reading through this site, it's great, probably the best forum I have ever found, and that's saying something because I actually run a forum myself! (Most humble, we're not worthy grovelling)

Karyn

Thanks for the nice comments about the forum

Six of one and half a dozen of the other Karyn. Although there can be certain advantages with a company purchase, especially over military clearances, the timescales for either option right now are solely dependent on the backlog being cleared and new definitions being issued in respect of property purchases. Turkish Parliament returns from summer holidays on 3 October and rulings on the property purchase front is high on their Agenda.

Have a look at this document in the Articles section which explains the differences involved for a company purchase over that of a private one....

I've been reading a lot about the new SIPPs lately. It could have a huge impact on the overseas property market once people work out how to do it! I believe there is a rule that says that as the SIPPs trust you set up actually owns the property whenever you personally use it you have to pay the trust market rates for the rental. One wonders how on earth they are going to enforce that!

So it looks like everyone will have to wait until the new law before they can in reality actually buy a property and be sure of really owning it. Yet it seems that people are still "buying" property at this time, having work done on it and even moving in and living in it...how are they safeguarding themselves?
