Visa help for v. stressed girlie!!
Hi All
Well, my brain is officially frazzled - and I have lists of my lists of my lists!! Why? I hear you ask! Tayfun and I are moving to live in Bodrum in February!
Don't get me wrong, Im not complaining and I'm so excited, but bloody hell...there is so much to do!!
Anyway, enough waffling - I need some advice.
First thing - my residence visa. Should I apply while I'm in the UK or wait until I get there? How long does a residence visa last? Cost? And if anyone has done it from the UK - how long do they hang on to your passport for?
Should Tayfun be applying for his Leave to Remain visa for the UK? His 2 year UK spouse visa is up end of January. Yes we are going to Turkey, but will be back to the UK every winter and really dont want to have to re-apply every time.
Any advice on this would be much appreciated

Re: Visa help for v. stressed girlie!!
Helen, I can help you out with the first part of your question,
apply for your residency visa here. I had some friends from the UK apply for it in the UK, then when they came here, they were told it wasnt valid, they had to reapply. so save yourself time, money and aggravation and do it here./
I dont know about your husband's situation, maybe someone else will have the answer. thats the beauty of this forum, if someone doesnt know the answer, there is bound to be someone else that will.
When you do mak it to Bodrum, look me up and i can walk through the residence process with you, heck I may even take you to the passport office and introduce you to the boys......the boys in blue.......lol
see ya

Tayfun should most definitely apply now. Expiry has a 30 day grace period, thereafter it will mean a complete new application.

Re: Visa help for v. stressed girlie!!
if you are getting your furniture shipped over it is a waste of time going to london as it is only a stamp put on your passport.i did this and still had to pay £10 entry visa after paying £75 at london for nothing.you need your residency at aydin to get you furniture if you are going to customs yourself. pat

Re: Visa help for v. stressed girlie!!
If you are moving to Bodrum, Mugla is where your paperwork would go. but the way its done here is that you go to the passport office, and they then forward it to mugla. sometimes you can pick it up from mugla, sometimes they wont let you. If you tell them that you need it urgently, they will allow you to go to Mugla to pick it up. But as you may have read on the forums, they have been kind of inconsistent with the timing.
When they say everything will be closed, all official offices will be. It is Kurban Bayrami, and it is a long one because of the weekend. 6 or 8 days I think.
Tony.....they is always looking for me...especially since I snubbed them and gave the jeep to greek customs instead of turkish customs.....lol.....
tomorrow I am going to kos for a xmas shopping expedition, I am sure the customs boys will be real happy to see me.....lol
