Typical Wages In Turkey

Just wondering what typical monthly wage's are in Turkey (in Turkish Lira), for a variety of different professions.

If you have some idea, please state the profession and the monthly or annual wage.

Thank you

Re: Typical Wages In Turkey

Teacher per month - from 2,000 to 5,000 depending whether it's private or government.

(That's in Istanbul, don't know about other places).

In Datca a labourer earns 60TL a day, a skilled craftsman 90TL a day, a cleaning lady 60-90TL a day.

Re: Typical Wages In Turkey

The current minimum wage is 661TL net.
Tenured Turkish school teachers earn about 1400TL net plus overtime. I think police officers get something similar.
Contract school teachers get about 900TL net, only during term time.

Thanks Eldivenci .. Just checking that your wages are monthly aren't they?

When you mention overtime for the schools and police, just wondering if its generally available and by how much it normally boosts the wages by?

Re: Typical Wages In Turkey

So when maintenance companies , who are paying cleaners 23 Tl a day , ask you for 50 ( 130Tl ), for 3 hrs work , you know you are being screwed.

Re: Typical Wages In Turkey

Yes, monthly.

Overtime for teachers, according to one newspaper report I read, can be up to 300TL in term time. I think most get overtime, but not sure.

In case anyone is interested you can compare minimum wages in different countries using this:

Eldivenci is right my husband as a teacher brings home 1500 basic wage and then can make it up to about 1900 in extra classes through the week.

Do you have to pay rent and electricity out of that amount Raven. The caretaker on our sitesi takes home 1200TL monthly, lives in a 2 bedroom apartment rent free and has his electricity and aidat paid for him! Tell your husband to re-train as a caretaker.
