Hospital help required from Turkish members

Can someone help me out please. I am looking for a hospital in either Izmir or Istanbul that performs Adjustable Lap band laposcopic surgery. Any website will be in Turkish and as I know none I'm scuppered. I will need someone to ask all my questions for me because if I phone the hospital chances are they can't speak english. I'm think that the American Hospital in Izmir and Istanbul do the operation but am not certain. Can someone please find out?

Re: Hospital help required from Turkish members

Bloody hell I nearly shot off the sofa in shock when I read this post Anna!! I have an adjustable gastric lap band (operation last May) and the one MAJOR concern I have about moving to Turkey next month is about my aftercare. I just figured that if anything happens/goes wrong that I would have to just jump on a plane back to Blighty sharpish, as I couldn't find any info in english about AGB's in Turkey.

Will be watching this thread with avid interest!!

Thanks Anna

lol Helen. My after care can be done in England but it's too expensive to have the op done there. From what I can make out on google there is the american hospital in Izmir and Istanbul that does it.....well I think so.

I had my op done on the NHS. PM me if you want info - there are also other places that do the op MUCH cheaper than the UK. Let me know how you get on!

Re: Hospital help required from Turkish members

Just trying to help you and I can tell you as I live in Izmir that no there is not an American Hospital here. You could try to contact Dr. Kushans Clinic in Istanbul as they are famous for their weightloss clinic and their staff speaks english and I would think that they would be able to tell you who and where in Istanbul and Izmir to contact for help in locating the right kind of care and help in regards to this.

They do not have anything to do with this type of surgery but as I say they maybe can help you to find out in english where to go.Good luck Azra

Azra

There is am American Hospital in Istanbul, just been on the phone to them, luckily there is an option to hear the message in english. I won't know until Monday if they do the operation there as there is a holiday right now. I spoke to someone and he thinks they do.Fingers crossed. In the meantime if anybody knows anywhere else that does this op let me know.

You could also try the Kent Hospital here in Izmir.Their website is all in Turkish but I would think if you also emailed them they could respond with some answers in english.

Re: Hospital help required from Turkish members

I phoned them this afternoon and and I spoke to a very nice woman doctor who performs this surgery at Kent Hospital. Her name is Dr. Aslan but her english is only fair and you will need to speak slow and clear and she can help to answer your questions and concerns. To reach her phone(0232) 386 70 70 then dial 9 and then 6441. I hope this helps. Azra
