Apparently it is quicker to travel by bus and same price as the trains, also the trains are ususally busy weekends and national holidays, they are said to be very uncomfortable.

Turkish domestic train services are roughly about half the price of dolmus fares for the same journey but the dolumus is quicker and you may have to change. Like say for instance, get the train from Istanbul to Ankara then get a coach from Ankara to Antalya which takes 7 hours (only as an example of a resort). But there are many Ekspresi trains (not so expressy if you get my drift). Weekend trains are very busy. Or the train from Istanbul to Adana then get the coach from Adana to Alanya etc another 7 hours....

It seems that trains from Istanbul seem to go to places like Ankara, Izmir, Adana but not direct to a resort unless anyone knows otherwise?

I'm cross referencing here as there are trains you would think it wouldn't be a problem for mail to arrive!

I wonder what they do with the undelivered mail.

Ivy, not everyone in Turkey is as honest as maybe they should be. My friend has lived there for years and she says it really is hit and miss depending on who is working and when So many of her parcels have gone missing that she has now told her family not to send any out
