Re: house insurance

lots of discussion threads about this on the forum

I took mine through the bank, it was quick, easy and saved more than 50% on my previous intasure premium.
It can also be paid in installments!

I believe most banks do it - mine happened to be Garanti

If you are resident in Turkey, any building insurance must be with a Turkish based insurer - as Intasure are UK based and have no Turkish subsidiary they cannot offer policies to Turkish residents. Most of the major insurers, such as Axa, Aviva etc all have Turkish subsidiaries so are fine.

That's it in simple terms.

Re: house insurance

Thanks for that İ am reassured. İ would recommend Axia ever time they are very professional and the papers are issued in both Turkish and English.

Re: house insurance

We are with Instasure and after reading this thread, decided it was best to pursue an insurance policy with my bank, HSBC. The information they gave me is very worrying and would appreciate anyones thoughts on the following.

Dask only provides 60,000-65,000tl in the event of an earthquake. The Turkish Government backed insurance scheme will top that up to 150,000tl. It does not cover pools etc and the money you receive will only allow you to build a basic house. Those of us who have spent over 50,000 for example, will not get a figure anywhere near that in order to rebuild the same style of house.

If there is not an earthquake, just an accident or major problem with a pool, which requires it to be re-built, it is not covered.

If anyone can suggest a company which will cover a pool, or pay a higher amount in the case of rebuild, I would really be most grateful to be given their details. Many thanks

Re: house insurance

Following my last post I contacted Instasure for their view on the matter, this is their reply from a few minutes ago
Thank you for your email, As you still have a main residency in the UK and are not becoming an ex-pat in Turkey we can continue to insure you on the same basis.
