Courier Services to Turkey?

Has anyone ever used a courier service to get something delivered quickly to Turkey? If you have, which company did you use, how quick was the service and what were the costs?

Thanks
Linda

I rang UPS (united parcel service) to courier a letter to Turkey and they wanted £49!!!! Obviously I declined as it was way over the top. Maybe someone from the site who is travelling to Turkey could take a letter/parcel out for you instead and use the local post service?

I used SPECIAL DELIVERY Royal Mail to get something to Turkey, they said it would take 4 days, it has got there in a week, because it has to be signed for at the other end.

This cost me £5 for a heavy letter so I should imagine it would be by weight with a parcel anyway.

The postal service will be changing in the UK and Royal Mail won't have the monopoly. I heard that private postal companies are now being brought in to deal with letter delivery etc so expect more strikes by Royal Mail. Might be an improvement I don't know.

Twice my mother sent money down to my sister in law in Cheshire and it was taken out of the birthday card and Christmas Card. Also my sister in law sent Marks and Spencers vouchers to my mother, the envelope was slashed and so was the inner one with vouchers in, but they didn't take them out. Maybe thought the numbers off the vouchers were recorded. As this came in a polythene bag because of the damage the Royal Mail tried to say it had been damaged in the process when we complained. It was obvious it hadn't. They do tell you not to send money but my mother is quite old, now I get her to send a cheque or use a brown envelope to disguise. The post is getting terrible for thieving. Even so it is a job of trust. I can't remember it being as bad as years ago.
